CIRCUSMASTER’S CHRONICLES
GODVILLE CHRONICLES
ARENA
The Arena is a great starting point for gathering golden bricks and rewards. For the first eight to ten weeks of playing Godville, losses are common, but persistence is key. Over time, you’ll develop strategies to improve your performance.
You won’t notice the option to buy God Power charges immediately, but as you progress, opportunities to spend gold effectively will emerge. The Arena is a valuable way to practice timing and combat skills for more advanced adventures.
DUNGEON
Dungeons unlock after you build your temple. They can be confusing to navigate, especially for visually impaired players, but they are accessible with VoiceOver.
Before entering a dungeon, use a voice command to type a helpful message, such as, “I’m visually impaired and unable to navigate. Can someone help me be successful?” This encourages others to assist you.
Listening to the travel message board is helpful for finding active dungeon players. Adding these players as friends improves your chances of success in future runs. Joining an active guild also increases success rates, as guilds often coordinate dungeon runs and provide support.
SAILING
Just like in a dungeon, this adventure has different types and requires a minimum of four active players to match. Planning your sailing time is important. A good time to match is between :45 and :07 of the hour when most players are active, ensuring a 99 percent chance of matching.
On an iPhone, after selecting the adventure, go to your diary and wait. I’ve never waited longer than ten minutes to match. If picture-in-picture mode is active during your sail, close or hide it so it doesn’t interfere with the top of the map. Once the sail starts, select the Sail tab at the bottom of the screen.
In the diary, swipe left twice. The first entry lists everyone on the adventure. The second entry shows the type of sail, which is crucial to know as it affects your strategy.
For a port-only exit, monitor your distance to the port carefully, especially if you find loot and need to return. Although difficult, it is possible to return as long as you have enough turns remaining. This type will likely be your least favorite, as it is mine.
For other sail types, where exits are at the borders (north, south, and sometimes east and west), my strategy is to head in one direction—either north or south—while searching for treasure. Then I continue toward the border to exit. This approach works more often than not.
DIARY, MAP, AND REMOTE
You only need the diary if you didn’t hear the last turn’s summary. Most of the time, focus on the map and remote tabs. After each turn, the summary announces everyone’s actions, such as fixing the ark, restoring supplies, loot found, or fighting status. I don’t pay much attention to others unless I notice in the status bar that I’m fighting a sailor. Be cautious, as some players target weaker sailors, even though that isn’t the main objective of this adventure.
LAYOUT
The status bar at the top has some changes. It shows ark health, GP, supplies, and cargo.
Cargo changes if you’re fighting a boss, displaying the boss’s health percentage instead. When the boss is defeated, the cargo status returns. If you have treasure, a Feminal, or a Manimal in the cargo, VoiceOver will notify you when these are highlighted.
It’s good to develop a strategy that matches your reaction speed. Sailing is one of the most active parts of the game, requiring constant attention to succeed.
THE MAP
Each map is two to three pages tall and wide, except for 50-turn sails. Three-finger swipe gestures can navigate pages, but they aren’t always necessary. Below the map are individual sailors, including your hero.
Highlighting your hero shows how many spaces they are from the port but not the direction. To locate your hero quickly, highlight them and wait for the turn to change. VoiceOver will pick up their position on the map after the turn. Swipe left or right to explore the area, or place your finger in the middle of the screen to search. VoiceOver labels items and announces how far they are in each direction.
When using the map tab, I check my status bar first, then swipe right past cargo and friends’ locations to reach the top-left corner of the map. This tells me how far I am from the top. I then swipe left to find my hero and note their facing direction and port distance. Continuing left lets me explore the bottom of the map.
To locate nearby items, I use a square search around my hero by moving my finger in a grid-like pattern. When I find something interesting, I note the direction I want to go and double-tap to move. If necessary, I go to the remote tab to manage healing, supplies, or miracles. After the turn ends, I may use a miracle to improve the odds of my hero reaching their destination, though miracles don’t guarantee success.
BOSS MINING
Boss Mining is one of the most rewarding adventure types, offering rare items like ark planks and golden bricks.
Winning arena matches and completing side jobs or dungeon runs are effective ways to earn resources for Boss Mining. To prepare for a boss fight, use standard fight commands like “Attack” or “Strike.” Be cautious of the boss’s abilities and maintain enough God Power to finish the battle successfully.
